CharITy Hackathon in Wrocław, Poland: How AC Became Part of a Philanthropic Mission
On September 6-8, 2024, Aleksey Yuzvyak – Product Owner at Advanced Communities – went in for a CharITy Hackathon in Wroclaw, Poland. Spoiler alert: his Mission Coders team has won third place! Let’s see how the event unrolled.
CharITy Hackathon: General Overview
CharITy Hackathon is a unique Salesforce-powered event that was organized by the local Polish Trailblazer community in Wroclaw, Poland. The event is aimed at harnessing the power of Salesforce for nonprofit organizations around the globe.
The Event in Numbers
- Over 150 participants, mentors, and volunteers
- 24/7 thinking and communication
- The Mission Coders team consisted of 2 beginners without experience, 1 admin, 2 developers, and Oleksii included
Fun fact: Oleksii’s team was the only one seeing each other for the first time.
The Challenge
During three days, participants had to come up with, implement, and present a solution for a local nonprofit client – DOM Foundation which helps children and orphanages in Poland. (Dbamy o młodych, translated into English as We care about young ).
The teams were tasked with creating a Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud solution from scratch to streamline operations for a foundation supporting children in orphanages in Poland. The goal was to move away from paper-based processes, automate tasks, and improve communication with donors and orphanages.
Leveraging the power of Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud, the team developed a comprehensive solution that addressed the specific needs of the three already pre-defined user personas:
- Director of the orphanage – the team has developed a dedicated Experience Cloud site that lets them communicate with the Foundation seamlessly, have access to important documentation, monitor the progress of the “Become Santa Claus” project, and connect with donors.
- Donor – as the donor’s pain points were the lack of a consistent relationship with the Foundation, the created solution has allowed them to see where their donations are allocated. Besides, the Mission Coders ensured that the donation process became much easier and more intuitive.
- Foundation employee – based on the employee’s pain points including the amount of manual work and lack of sufficient data about beneficiaries and donors, the team has infused automation to scale operations, which has reduced the amount of manual and unorganized tasks, such as emails for the “Become Santa Claus” project, invoice follow-ups.
The Result
Thanks to the awesome teamwork, the Mission Coders took the 3rd place. We couldn’t be more proud of Aleksey and his excellent professional achievements!
